I added the...loud...point that Bender made about the Professor being uncircumcised. It's a bit adult, but valid trivia. I'm not sure if you guys want to keep it up or not. *Identifying actors
**Pamela Anderson cameos as Dixie after appearing in a previous episode as her self, the dialogue was recorded at the same time.
*The translation of the Alien Language is:
**The following species are ineligible: space wasps, space beavers, any other animal with the word 'space' in front of it, space chickens, and the elusive yak-face.
***Yak face is a rare Star Wars figure of Saelt-Marae not released in the USA. Mint figures have sold for thousands of dollars.
*Slurm is intended to sound disgusting.
**It was one of the earliest ideas, they decided to fill the universe with numerous pop culture items.
*Bender is slightly different color when sick.
*Bender's 6502 processor is from the Apple 2 home computer
*John was constantly using the "Why you so stoopid, stoopid?" line before it was written in.
*3D scrabble is inspired by the game 3D chess from Star Trek.
*Billy West, while recording for Glurmo, stared at a picture of Gene Wilder
**Glurmo was going to be Slurmy Slonka
*Early on, the Grunka Lunkas were to be seen shovelling a mountain of cocaine.
**They were to be caracatures of the Oompa Lompas, but Matt Groening (who'd never seen Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory) redesigned them.
**There was originally a joke about them having a good union.
*After this episode, the writers' room gained a sign reading "Real Writers' Room".
*Some of the Slurm shirts are in Hebrew.
*Amy's scream when she falls down is always the same recording, Lauren records a few every time anyway.
*The Slurm extraction process used to be more disgusting.
*Two thirds of the episodes feature a trial and/or running away.
*The Slurm Queen's torture scene is similar to situations in old Batman episodes.
*Time cards are reused wherever possible. The one reading "Run away" is wearing out.
*Slurms' party music was originally a temporary track.

Goofs
* In this story, they can't charge Bender, because as a robot he doesn't have free will, but this has never been brought up before, when he or any other robot is on trial.
** In all other cases, either he was found not-guilty because his programming didn't allow him to be charged guilty, or he was found guilty because his programming would not allow him to be found not-guilty. The closing statement about free-will is actually irrelevant except to trigger the coding for his soul-searching.
* The Professor states he programmed all robots, so they would be unable to harm him, but in the Late Philip J Fry, Bender and him get into a fist fight, Also in Bender's Game he almost sells the professor out to the orcs, and in Bendless Love he three times bends the Professor's spine. Why has this never worked before now?
** Regarding the fist fight, Bender isn't doing anything of major consequence to the Professor, while bending his spine merely affected him, though Bender was unaware of his actions and was on impulse. The other thing is part of a fantasy.
* If the free-will device was built after the Robots, then how did they know what shape it was going to be, to give to the robots?
** Farnsworth was designing it around that anticipated shape.
* Bender seems incapable of overcoming his programming in this episode, but in Space Pilot 3000 he's able to after being electrocuted.
** Even if the program has changed, it does not mean that Bender had free will.
* Fry and Leela cannot land on Chapek 9's surface because of the anti-human sentiment, despite the robots cheering the humans for providing crucial lugnuts in Fear of a Bot Planet.
** Entirely possible that human hatred did not completely vanish, or the elders continued using humanity as a scapegoat for issues
"The Thief of Baghead" is the one hundred and eighteenth episode of Futurama, the fourth of the seventh production season and the ninth broadcast season. It aired on 4 July 2012 on Comedy Central. Bender wants to take a photo of an actor whose face has never been seen so he joins the paparazzi.

Plot
Act I: "Picture time! Everybody get together!"
After watching an episode of All My Circuits, Amy suggests that the crew take a trip to the aquarium. While there, Bender shows his liking for photography, and mentions that he is the last photographer on Earth to use Photographic film. After discovering Calculon is at the aquarium, Bender follows him around and harasses him by taking photos of him, to the point where Calculon leaves out of frustration. Back at Planet Express headquarters, Bender shows off his photos to Leela and Zoidberg, but is disappointed with the ones of Calculon. However, Zoidberg is impressed with them, and suggests that Bender go to Hollywood and take them to the offices of Us People magazine. Bender does so, and the managing editor of the magazine, Larvae Levin, is pleased enough with the photos that he offers Bender a job as a paparazzo.

Act II: "I'd like to introduce you to Bender! The newest member of our paparazzo family!"
Bender is successful at getting many front page images for the magazine. Later, Zoidberg shows him a documentary about the greatest actor in the universe, Langdon Cobb, a man who believes he should be admired for his acting and not for his looks, and therefore always wears a brown paper bag on his head. The documentary states that no one has ever taken a photo of Cobb's true appearance, which inspires Bender to take one.

While breaking into Cobb's compound, Bender is chased by an unusual mushroom dog, but escapes it and manages to take a picture of Cobb by hiding in his fireplace. Cobb begs Bender to never show the image to anyone, and Bender agrees. However, he immediately takes the picture to Fry; when Fry sees it, a green light bursts from his eyes and mouth and his body is reduced to a shell. Curious, Bender shows the image to Amy and Hermes, too, and finds that it has the same effect. He realises that the image of Langdon has this effect on all living creatures. The Professor recognizes the symptoms and identifies the cause; Langdon Cobb is an alien from Bryoria 6, an organism with two bodies linked by quantum entanglement; the actor is the Id of the creature, and the unusual fungus animal that chased Bender is the ego, which feeds off of attention. Any living creature that looks on the Id's face will have its life force sucked out to feed the ego. In order to rescue their friends, they must weaken Cobb's ego so that they can attack it and free the victims' life forces. Zoidberg suggests that they could do this by taking advantage of an upcoming acting competition between Cobb and Calculon; if they can ensure that Calculon wins, Cobb should be weakened. Leela and Bender present their plan to Calculon while Zoidberg and the Professor break into Cobb's compound to be ready to attack the ego when it weakens. Calculon agrees to their plan out of a desire to outshine Cobb, and performs the final death scene of Romeo and Juliet; to ensure a strong performance, he decides to drink real poison and die on stage.

Act III: "There's a humongous fungus among us!"
Calculon delivers a moving performance and goes through with his plan to drink the poison. However, Cobb is still declared the winner of the competition, and his ego only becomes stronger. It attacks the theatre where the competition is taking place. Bender theorizes that if he shows Cobb the picture of himself, it will suck out his life force; to do so, he must manually develop the film in the dark room in his torso. While Bender takes his time to develop the photo perfectly, Cobb explains to the others that, rather than sucking out life forces as the other members of his species do, he has been sustaining himself by milking the admiration that the people of Earth have for actors. By the time Bender develops the photo properly, Leela, Zoidberg and the Professor have had their life forces sucked out as well. Unfortunately, Cobb cannot be hurt by the photo; however, his admiration of its quality inflates his ego to the point that it bursts, releasing the absorbed life forces of all of his victims and restoring them to full health.

Goofs
* Ground sloth and saber-toothed cats were only found in the Americas, thus Neanderthals would have never interacted with them.
** The 11 thousand years since then could change that.
* At the beginning of and during Oktoberfest, Fry is unhappily sober because all beer is dispensed in tiny steins, but during the invasion, much larger mugs are shown.
* During the invasion, the ship is seen firing, but in previous episodes a gunner (Fry) was in place. The gunner position itself is unnecessary if Leela can control the ships guns all from her console.
** It is most likely that the ship has a targeting system via Leela's console, but a manual gunner position is available to take the strain off of the captain so he/she can concentrate on flying.
* Although the map of Germany and the location of the famous Neanderthal are quite accurate, the Oktoberfest is actually held in Munich in the southeast (although in the 1000 years between our day and theirs it could have changed location). The glaciers of the Alps nearby would have made a good place for finding prehistoric mammoths and people, since for example Ötzi the Iceman was found there.
"The Six Million Dollar Mon" is the one hundred and twenty-first episode of Futurama, the seventh of the seventh production season and the ninth broadcast season.

Plot
Act I: "When I fight machinery, machinery always wins."
After conducting an annual performance review, Hermes discovers that he is the most inefficient employee of Planet Express and has himself fired and replaced by a machine. Surprisingly, Zoidberg is the only member upset by his departure, as he believed that Hermes hatred for him was merely a friendly inside joke (rather than out of genuine malice) and shows open resentment towards the company's new accountant. After Hermes tells his family the news over his wife's nearly-fatal spicy goat soup, he and Labarbara go for a walk, where they are attacked by Roberto. Smitty and URL come to their rescue at the last minute using URL's robotic chest harpoon, leading Hermes to conclude that he could use a robotic upgrade for himself. Because of his multiple escapes, Roberto is taken immediately to the Electromagnetic Chair and executed. Using Bender's help, Hermes finds a shadowy surgeon to perform the operation on him and returns home to show his family, much to their surprise and shock, that he now has a robotic chest harpoon.

Act II: "Nice shiny metal ass, Hermes."
The next day, Hermes shows off his new chest artillery to the Planet Express crew. Everyone is impressed and, upon demonstrating it to retrieve a box just out of Mark's reach, re-hires himself as Planet Expresses accountant. Zoidberg is thrilled to have him back, and even though Hermes explicitly states that he's not Zoidberg's friend, Zoidberg laughs it off, saying how, "When he [Hermes] stops insulting is when [Zoidberg] worries." "The Six Million Dollar Mon" is the one hundred and twenty-first episode of Futurama, the seventh of the seventh production season and the ninth broadcast season.

Plot
Act I: "When I fight machinery, machinery always wins."
Hermes discovers he's the most inefficient employee of Planet Express and has himself fire and replaced by a machine. Zoidberg is the only member upset by his departure believing Hermes hatred for him is merely a friendly inside joke.

After telling his family the news and having a diner of near-fatally spicy goat soup, he and Labarbara go for a walk, where they are attacked by Roberto. Smitty and URL come to their rescue at the last minute using URL's robotic chest harpoon, leading Hermes to conclude that requires robotic upgrades for himself.

Act III: "He wants a brain. He wants a robot brain."
Cannon
Should this episode be considered cannon? Because technically, although it may have actually happened, no one remembers it, and it's extremely unlikely to affect anything after this episode.

Because it is not a comic, The Game, or an Anthology of Interest-esque episode and is part of the regular season, it must be considered cannon.98.198.118.224 05:47, 30 June 2012 (CEST)
:I don't think that necessarily has to be true. Just because we haven't found a situation where there might be an exception doesn't mean that there can't be one. 66.32.188.127 16:20, 1 July 2012 (CEST)
::This isn't an exception; just because the events of the episode were erased due to paradox correction does not change the fact that they occurred. Even the Anthology of Interest stories, which are clearly non-canonical, contain events which are canon. -- DeepSpaceHomer (talk) 00:07, 2 July 2012 (CEST)
:::I think that they really didn't occur; in the reality that the next episode takes on, the events of this episode other than Nixon being reelected never happened, which is the exact definition of a non-cannon episode. 66.32.188.127 22:28, 2 July 2012 (CEST)
::::This is the problem with time travel. In Bender's Big Score, a time duplicate Fry led a long life in the 2000s despite the original traveling back to the 3000s. Is the life of the duplicate Fry cannon? Timeline A would follow Fry (A), Fry (B) becomes a whale biologist on Timeline B, Fry (Γ) remains in the Cryogenic Tube and Timeline Γ merges with Timeline A, and the whole thing gets kinda convoluted. Think of the Time Paradox Benders at the end of BBS.
::::I think it can be considered cannon if the timelines could be mapped out as linearly as possible. The Travers B timeline ends abruptly at the end of the election, so it actually happened, but the "time" itself stopped suddenly and rapidly merged with the Travers A timeline (in which he is born but has not come back from the future). My head hurts.98.198.118.224 22:45, 3 July 2012 (CEST)
::::This is a pretty big problem with time travel. Everything is very confusing when there is a paradox. And actually, there were a few paradoxes in BBS, like the question of where the tattoo came from. I'm thinking maybe we should have a section called "cannon" in which we discuss the issue as thoroughly as possible. I also think we should put the label "Disputed Cannon" on this episode, because that does mean that there are different opinions on whether or not it's cannon, not that it's non-cannon. Also, on the article on cannon, we could have a section labeled "Decision 3012" similar to the one on this article.66.32.188.127 17:35, 4 July 2012 (CEST)
:::::I'll second a Disputed Cannon tag on the article, or at least a mention as a note. In fact, something exclusive to paradoxes would be ideal.
In the scene after the protest outside of the Travers presidential headquaters when Leela slams Bender into the wall, Bender's motives are questioned and he says "'cause they won't let me near the Hoover Dam anymore." Anyone have some insight into why? Or, is it another of Bender's lies?98.198.118.224 05:55, 30 June 2012 (CEST)

I would say it has something to do with Las Vegas. It's not difficult to imagine he isn't welcome there.

Oversight?
While recounting his time in the future, the candidate says "I escaped JUST as the robots arrived" but the animation shows he left before Bender kicked down the wall, so he wouldn't have known what was going to happen. Assumingly, the whole Bender monologue is there simply for our benefit, as nobody who was there to see it ever made it back.

Also, since he failed and Nixon got elected, it will all happen as the story was told. If that is the case, where did Travers go? In 20 years, he'll jump into the green energy ball and? I'm guessing that's when the paradox correction kicks in, because Travers wasn't killed when he lost the elections, he got reverted, meaning he never went back, but the future mankind still had the code and wanted him to go. Was he deposited back out? 188.26.54.248 23:58, 5 July 2012 (CEST)
"Zapp Dingbat" is the one hundred and nineteenth episode of Futurama, the fifth of the seventh production season and the ninth broadcast season. It originally aired on 11 July 2012 on Comedy Central. Leela is upset when her mother starts dating Zapp Brannigan.

Plot
Leela hosts a 40th anniversary party for her parents. However, during a video montage of their history together, they begin to argue about the direction their lives have taken: her mother, an exolinguist, wants to explore the universe now that they are no longer legally constrained to the sewers, while her father fears outer space and wants to surf the great sewer waves of the world. The conflicts lead to them getting a divorce, and Munda moving in with Leela.

When Leela (along with Fry and Bender) takes her mother out to a bar, they encounter Zapp Branigan in negotiation with shark-like aliens called Carcarons; he botches the negotiations with his poor command of their language, severely insulting them; however, Munda is able to salvage the situation by speaking the language properly. Zapp begins flirting with Munda, and the two begin dating. Leela strongly disapproves of the relationship, convinced that he is attempting to get to her through her mother, but no one believes her, and Munda thinks that she is just jealous. Zapp then hires Munda as his personal translator so the two can spend more time together and she can explore the universe as she always wanted.

Meanwhile, Morris is not coping with divorce as well; Leela convinces him to take Fry and Bender on the surfing trip he had always dreamed of, which cheers him up greatly. Although both of her parents are now happy, Leela is still relentless in her attempts to break up her mother and Zapp. Ultimately Munda decides to move out of her daughter's apartment. Leela attempts to prove her theory that Zapp is really interested in her by inviting him over for dinner. She tries to seduce him when he arrives, but he refuses her, insisting that he loves Munda. Munda hears this, Zapp proposes to her, and she accepts.

At the last minute, Fry convinces Leela to support her mother's decision and attend the wedding. In the middle of the ceremony, however, the Carcarons arrive to sign a peace treaty, and Zapp and Munda must meet with them. During the meeting, Zapp reveals that he is planning to trick the Carcarons into war; Munda is horrified by this, and calls off the wedding. She also tells the Carcarons of Zapp's plan, causing them to declare war anyway. Moreover, the Nimbus has been disabled, and can only be operated by an auxiliary control panel. Morris appears, determined to win back Munda, and uses his surfing skills to help the ship ride the energy wave attacks of the Carcarons. Once peace is achieved, Zapp remarries Munda and Morris.

The goofs section is kinda riddled with questions. These should probably be rephrased or brought here for answers. I don't want to delete anything from the page since I don't have an account. They are as follows:
:If the Professor knew his gun would take so long to warm up, why didn't he turn it on while he was waiting for the performance to begin?
::The answer here is senility, obviously.
:Langdon Cobb's house had a fifty foot force field around it, so how did his ego get out from its grounds to contest hall?
::The ego grew to a very large size before escaping, so it's reasonable to assume that it grew large enough to scale or jump over the fence.
:If Bender's camera is simply a none[sic] futuristic film camera, then shouldn't the heat of the fire he hid in to take Langdon Cobb's photo, have caused the camera to melt or the film to burn[?]
::This one I don't actually have an answer to. This would actually be a goof.
:The Professor explains that looking upon a Quantum Litchen drains any living things life force, so why does it reduce the body, to a deflated husk? Shouldn't the bones, muscle, fat and blood remain?
::No answer for this one either.
:Even for a robot, shouldn't drinking battery acid, corrode their insides?
::Since it's likely that Calculon is made of steel, the oxidation would be slow enough to not cause fatal damage.
I think when leela moves back and forth on pandora is a reference to the fact that a paper moves back and forth in mid air of our 3D universe. (sorry if I spelled forth wrong.)
Fun I should bring this up again. But this time it is actually slightly disputed. Both "Bend on a Wire" and "The Silence of the Clamps" seems possible. However, the latter seems to be quite favourable for several reasons.

As i_c_weiner correctly points out on PEEL, it would be most likely for "The Silence of the Clamps" to be the episode name, given how it focuses on Clamps (we know that from Maurice LaMarche) and "Bend on a Wire" is a more generic title. --Sviptalk 13:14, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm a bit confused about the air date right now. I find conflictive dates even on this site.

On the Main Page, the date is 23 June, while on the episode listing, the episode page and other places, the date is 21 July. This is apparently taken from a tweet from Eric Rogers.

But on other sites, I mostly find the first date(23 June), namely the official comedy central page, IMDB, wikipedia and vulture.

So, have I missed something or what?
The Pizzeria they're at is Family Bros Pizza formerly owned by the Cygnoids from the episode "A Leela of Her Own". I think the Cygnoids sold it to Fishy Joe at the end of that episode. It still has the slogan "Authentic Earth Pizza".

IIRC, they sold the franchising rights to Fishy Joe, rather than the store itself. It's very possible that the Cygnoids are continuing to work at the store they set up, but paying the franchising fees to Fishy Joe. In the case of Popplers, Fishy Joe bought all rights to market and distribute.98.198.118.224 09:47, 24 June 2012 (CEST)
Goof isn't Goof?
This "goof" is present in the Goofs section: "In "Lethal Inspection", we learned that all bending units are equiped with a wireless back-up copy of them being updated everyday. Clearly, the character Billy West was also a bending unit (except he can't bend) so the Robot Mafia had never really killed Bender (really Billy West) meaning the real Bender could still be in danger." I don't think this is a goof of any sort. We've seen several Bending units in the past, and all of the Robot Mafia believes that Clamps killed our Bender. As such, unless someone comments to someone else in the Robot Mafia that the Bender they are after isn't dead, there's no possible way they would know or even think that Bender is still alive, even if seeing another Bending unit that looks just like him. Even if they did, the Robot Mafia probably wouldn't even care or notice, seeing as how not only has Bender been a part of the Mafia in the past, but he had that affair with Fanny and no one in the Mafia cares anymore, so I doubt they would care if they see him and know he was the same Bender.
To add to this, if all robots are equipped with a backup unit, they would also know this, and then wouldn't have stopped looking for him in the first place, if you want to use that. Regardless, this isn't a goof, and I think this should be removed from the section. Polantaris 01:30, 19 July 2011 (CEST)
:There are several points to this. First of all, maybe the Robot Mafia don't know about the backup unit, and second, maybe they don't care. The killing would perhaps just be a mean thing to do to Bender, not meant to take him out completely but more of a punishment. We've seen this before. == Cold opening ==

An idea I had touched months prior, and am now finally trying it out, I call it the cold opening of an article, similar to those on the show. The idea is that these episode articles start rather "rough", navigation, infobox and plot. No introduction. Sure, straight to the point is nice, but a short introduction, explaining the significances of an episode, a quite recap of its plot and mentions of its guest stars. I am opening this discussion for opinions. --SvipTalk 23:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
:Overdue response, but I agree. I've always thought that a summary or something would be great at the start, something that goes over some key points or something, rather than just "here's what happens, blow-by-blow"--not everyone wants to read the whole thing to find out what the episode is about. --Buddy 00:31, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
1000 years being less than 1000 years
Let me explain. How long is a year? 365 days? I don't think so. 365.25 days? That's better, but still not there. Leap days (every fourth year, unless that year is dividable by 100, but not if it is also dividable with 400) was originally created to take care of that problem. Problem is, that even with these fixes, the year remains somewhat off. So, they made leap seconds, every year, when appropriate, an additional second is added to the year. It may not seem like much, but it will actually make sure that the year cycles does not go out of hand.

But, a thing like a countdown on the freezer-tube, may take care of the leap days problem, but not the leap second issue. Thus, by a thousand years, the lack of increment every year for the countdown have left it half a day behind. There are some more precise calculations on this issue, but I couldn't find them. --SvipTalk 22:34, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
::Most clocks also lose time. Since Applied Cryogenics is sort of a shoddy operation, they probably don't have super-expensive atomic clocks on-site. In fact, I imagine that the reason the "ding" sounds like that of a dinner timer is because it's probably built from one. Crappy clocks lose more time than good ones (even atomic clocks lose a second every million years or so). It's not inconceivable that the clock could've lost twelve hours or more in a thousand years. --Buddy 00:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Suicide
So in the trivia we've got "According to Groening, the inspiration for the suicide booth was the 1937 Donald Duck cartoon, "Modern Inventions", in which the Duck is faced with—and nearly killed several times by—various push button gadgets in a Museum of the Future. " as well as "Suicide Booths are taken directly from one of Sheckley's novels, Immortality, Inc."

By having both in, the implication is that Matt Groening says that Robert Sheckley was influenced by a Disney cartoon. In fact, the whole trivia section is full of claims that don't seem to have any proof behind them. As much as I love Red Dwarf, I never once thought that this in any way paralleled Lister being frozen for a million years, nor have I ever seen any official statements to that effect. As such, I'm taking out some of the more unlikely things, but I'm more than willing to discuss the possibility of them being correct and my being utterly wrong and pretentious.--Ozzie 13:34, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
The Trivia section says that Fry passes a sign in Chinese, which, when translated, says "fire" and "women", probably meaning "hot women". That is not actually correct. "Cold Warriors" is the one hundred and twelfth episode of Futurama, the twenty-fourth of the sixth production season and the eleventh of the eighth broadcast season. It aired 25 August, 2011 on Comedy Central. Fry's sneezing reintroduces the common cold to the world of the future, with devastating consequences.

Plot
Act I: "What the hell's a common cold?"
Fry catches the common cold during an ice fishing trip, though the rest of the Planet Express crew are unaware of what the disease is as it was eradicated 500 years ago. Professor Farnsworth explains that the common cold virus had survived within Fry while he was frozen for 1000 years and has thus been reintroduced to mankind, which has lost all resistance to the virus. During this time, flashbacks to the year 1988 show Fry taking an ice fishing trip with his father, during which he falls through the ice and catches a cold. Later, egged on by his brother Yancy, he decides to enter a science competition judged by Buzz Aldrin in which the winner's entry will be launched into space in a satellite. His idea is to infect his pet guinea pig with the cold virus and see if can be cured by exposure to cosmic rays. A rival competitor, Josh Gedgie, learns of Fry's entry and decides to create an experiment about the common cold as well.

Act II: "Chicken. Water. Fire."
In the present day, the pathogens of the cold are detected and Planet Express is quarantined. Bender, who is immune to biological illness and forced to take care of the sick crew, becomes exasperated and breaks through the quarantine after being sneezed on by Zoidberg, spreading the virus across Manhattan. Richard Nixon becomes concerned with the rapid spread of the disease and brings in Dr. Ogden Wernstrom to resolve the situation. Wernstrom's solution is to destroy the virus by enclosing Manhattan in plastic wrap, lifting it into space, and hurling it into the Sun.

Act III: "Blow them to baco bits with a well placed warning shot!"
Believing that a vaccine can be created using a sample of the original virus, Farnsworth plans to extract it from Fry by grinding his body into a paste. Fry remembers that the winning science competition entry contained a virus sample. The crew escapes the city and finds the satellite containing the experiment, now encased in ice on Enceladus, with a flashback revealing that Gedgie's project won the competition. As the Professor uses Gedgie's virus sample to create a vaccine, and Manhattan is set back in place and its residents are inoculated to stop the outbreak, Fry has a flashback to the ice fishing trip with his father just after being pulled out of the ice, where Fry's father tells him that he loves him, and explains that he is only so hard on Fry because he wants Fry to grow up strong.
Additional Info
Trivia
* This episode's storyline is similar to that of the comic book "The Cure for the Common Clod". Writer Eric Rogers has commented on this via Twitter, writing that "[t]hey are different stories".
*This is one of four episodes of broadcast season 8 to be broadcast in production order. The other three are "Fry Am the Egg Man", "Overclockwise" and "Reincarnation".
*If one was to consider each of the movies as one episode rather than four, then "Cold Warriors" could technically be considered the 100th episode, rather than "The Mutants Are Revolting".
**Alternatively, if the movies are canon, but non-episodic, "Cold Warriors" is the 96th episode.
*This is the second episode in a row to feature flashbacks in between the episode, with the previous one being "The Tip of the Zoidberg".

Allusions
* The title of the episode is a reference to the common cold and the cold warriors.
* In the Flashback to 1988, Barack Obama is shown working as a pizza delivery guy.
* Fry calling Josh Gedgie LL Fool J is a reference to American rapper and actor LL Cool J, while Gedgie calling Fry Grandmaster Phlegm is a reference to another rapper, Grandmaster Flash.
* One of the images Wernstrom shows Nixon's head and Zapp is a Verizon coverage map.
* The scene where the hovercopters cover Manhattan with a wrap is reminiscent of the scene where the helicopters cover Springfield with a dome in The Simpsons Movie.
* The concept of Manhattan being cut from the planet's surface and taken into space is reminiscent of the novel Manhattan Transfer by John E. Stith.
* One of the science experiments presented for the space launch involves Tang (drink). Tang became popular in the United States due to its association with NASA and the manned spaceflight programs of the 1950s and 1960s.

Continuity
*This is the first onscreen appearance of Yancy Sr. and Mrs. Fry since Bender's Big Score, and their first speaking roles since "Jurassic Bark".
*In the episode "The Luck of the Fryrish", which is the first episode in which Philip's parents appear, Yancy Sr. is seen reading a magazine titled 'Cold Warriors' while Mrs. Fry is giving birth.
*In a flashback, Fry is seen carrying his seven-leaf clover from "The Luck of the Fryrish".
*Even though Smitty retired in "Law and Oracle", he somehow returned to the force in this episode.
*In the scene in Panucci's Pizzeria in 1988, Fry can be seen writing left-handed like most other characters in Matt Groening's cartoons.
*This is the second time that Nixon has had a secret meeting with Zapp in the Secret White House, previously in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela".
*Dr. Wernstrom pronounces his name as "Vernstrom", but he previously pronounced it as "Wernstrom" in "A Big Piece of Garbage" and The Beast with a Billion Backs. Both ways may be correct.
*The Nimbus launches a missile resembling the Universe to Universe Missile from The Beast with a Billion Backs towards the wrap.
*This episode continues the trend of guinea pig deaths seen in "Anthology of Interest I" and Bender's Big Score and mentioned in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela".
*Normally, when Bender sleeps, he has his visor down, but, in this episode, he does not.
*According to Wernstrom's diagram's for Nixon, the cold virus has not spread outside of Manhattan. However, both Morbo and Linda of √2 news have the cold, despite the location of their broadcast having been identified as Los Angeles in "A Big Piece of Garbage".
**However, more recent episodes are showing their location in New New York.
***The studio in LA could've closed, causing them to move to New New York.
*Fry's father's story of when he was shot down over Korea and had to consume his interpreter implies that he fought in the Korean War, but it was established in "Roswell that Ends Well" that he was born in 1948.
**Then again he once claimed that his ancestors fought commies in the revolutionary war so his historical knowledge is iffy at best.
*In this episode, it reveals Fry went to school, but in "The Cryonic Woman", Fry said he never went to school because his parents thought it was a waste of tax money.
**He may have been taken out of school at a later date.
"Benderama" is the one hundred and fifth episode of Futurama, the seventeenth of the sixth production season and the second of the eighth broadcast season. It aired 23 June, 2011 on Comedy Central, with "Neutopia", which actually follows it in production order, immediately preceding its airing. Bender gains the ability to self-replicate, threatening to overrun Earth with vast swarms of copies of himself.

Plot
Act I: Do you see a robot in this room named "Folder?"
The Professor opens the episode by unveiling his latest invention, the Banach-Tarski Dupla-Shrinker (which resembles an overhead projector), a duplication machine that is able to scan an object and then produce two exact yet smaller copies. The Professor explains that as he ages, his frame grows shorter, and he becomes more susceptible to the cold; therefore, he needs twice as many sweaters, in a smaller size. He demonstrates by scanning a full-size sweater, explains that the duplicator uses matter for fuel (and "any old useless matter will do"--in this case, Zoidberg's wedding photos), and produces two identical, smaller sweaters. The Professor asks Bender to fold his new sweaters, and Bender grudgingly complies, although the lazy robot complains about having to perform two separate tasks. Bender spots the unattended duplicator and, devising a way to more efficiently complete his chore, places the machine inside his torso, eats several pieces of lab equipment to power it, and produces two miniature Benders, whom he then asks to fold one sweater each (although they don't actually do this).

Bender and his duplicates get along well, hanging out together, causing mischief, and even going on a Planet Express job to deliver hygiene products to an unattractive, self-conscious alien giant. The three Benders make a litany of crude jokes at the giant's expense, insulting his appearance, although the mild-mannered alien does not respond to their taunts... until Fry, attempting to be compassionate, remarks that the giant's looks are probably hereditary, inadvertently insulting his mother. This sends the giant into a rage, and he attacks the fleeing Planet Express ship, although the crew manage to escape.

Back on Earth, Bender and his duplicates fondly reminisce about mocking the giant. When Bender asks his duplicates for a pair of cigars, they move to oblige him, but when he changes his mind and asks for four, they bristle at the idea of having to carry two cigars each. Instead, they activate their own duplicators (since Bender had the original duplicator inside him when he used it to scan himself, all of his duplicates have one as well), creating another four, slightly smaller Bender clones. This process repeats itself, rapidly escalating until Planet Express headquarters is infested with an army of increasingly smaller Benders.

Act II: This place is crawling with yous!
Bender is unconcerned with the steadily increasing number of his clones, as this simply means "there are more Benders around", which he considers to be a good thing. However, the Professor displays a mathematical equation projecting the Benders' population growth, explaining that they will continue to replicate ad infinitum, multiplying exponentially; because they need matter in order to replicate, they will eventually consume the entire planet. The Professor calculates that the Benders are currently in their eleventh generation, making 2,046 Bender duplicates that must be destroyed. The crew scour the Planet Express building, exterminating the tiny Benders like vermin, and are able to account for them all, but Amy realizes that one of the dead Benders is actually a doll, a piece of merchandise left over from Bender's television career. Bender is not worried that a single duplicate managed to escape, believing it could do little harm, only for his couch to be eaten out from under him by a swarm of microscopic Benders, which appear as a "grey goo". The Professor laments that the Benders will eat all the matter on Earth, but when they also consume Bender's beer, Leela points out that all Benders, like the original, are powered by alcohol; they will exhaust the world's supply of booze long before they are able to destroy it.

Sure enough, the Benders soon drink all the alcohol in the world, and with none left to replace it, they begin to die off. As the professor is bathing, however, he notices that his bath water has somehow been transformed into alcohol; the Benders, which have miniaturized to the atomic level, have begun rearranging water and carbon dioxide molecules into alcohol molecules in order to provide themselves with more fuel. Within hours, there will be no fresh water left on Earth.

Act III: Big Bender starts right now!
As a result of all the drinking water on the planet being converted into alcohol, everyone in the world becomes severely intoxicated. Shortly afterward, the alien giant arrives on Earth to apologize for his earlier attack on the Planet Express ship, but the drunken crew berate him with savage insults (a situation that does not improve when Zapp Brannigan begins firing on him from a tank). When the giant, struggling to control his temper, is unable to reach his therapist, he goes on a rampage, and begins to destroy New New York. Fry pleads with Bender--who, as a robot, is the only member of the crew to remain sober--to stop the giant. The slothful Bender is reluctant, but when Fry offers to fold the Professor's shirts in exchange for Bender saving the world (which Bender computes as Fry performing two tasks against his one), Bender agrees, believing that he got the better end of the deal.

Bender walks into the street and calls upon the assistance of his many microscopic duplicates, overcoming their inherent laziness by explaining that if they all cooperate to complete their single job, they will each only have to contribute one-quintillionth of the required effort. The numerous copies swarm around Bender, taking the form of a single, gigantic "Big Bender" who engages the giant in a fistfight. Bender initially has the upper hand, but after he insults the giant's mother, the giant begins to pummel him. The giant appears to have won, only for the Benders to swarm across him, devouring him until only dust remains. Exhilarated by his victory, Bender asks his copies to use their powers to help him defeat other "monsters", such as poverty, disease, and "unliteracy"; the Benders, however, are repulsed by the idea of having to do more work, and leave the planet in search of a place where they "won't have to do one-quintillionth of a thing all the time", leaving a battered, partially eaten Earth behind.

The next morning, the Planet Express crew are all recovering from a collective hangover, although the Professor is in high spirits, as someone finally folded his sweaters. The crew were all too drunk to do this, prompting Fry to ask Bender if he finally learned a lesson about being lazy. Bender replies that maybe he did, but adds with a chuckle that perhaps he rescued one of the mini-Benders solely for the purpose of folding the sweaters for him. Bender exhales the smoke from his cigar toward the camera, revealing that it is not smoke at all, but a cloud of countless mini-Benders, all laughing maniacally.
Trivia
* Benderama is among the few one-word titled media and one of only four season 6 episodes to include the full opening sequence, the other three being "Rebirth", "That Darn Katz!", and "All the Presidents' Heads".
* The song played during the montage of the Planet Express crew killing all the Bender clones is The Presidents of the United States version of "Rock and Roll Pest Control" by the Young Fresh Fellows.
* This is the third time that Futurama gets away with almost dropping the S-bomb on the show. In The Beast with a Billion Backs, Bender says, "No shklit." In "Lethal Inspection", a member of the sith is named Darth Ithead, and in this episode, Morbo says that everyone is "tetty much protally fitshaced," a drunken spoonerism on "pretty much totally sh*tfaced".

Allusions
*The title is a portmanteau of "Bender" and "Futurama".
*The Scary Door narrator says "A picture of yourself in a boat on a river", a play on the first line of The Beatles' song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - "Picture yourself in a boat on a river".
** The plot of the Scary Door episode is somewhat similar to that of the The Twilight Zone episode "The Brain Center at Whipple's".
*The duplicator's name is a reference to the Banach–Tarski paradox. The real Banach-Tarski paradox involves cutting up one object into (non-measurable) pieces and gluing the pieces back together to make two new objects of the same size without using any extra material. The professor dispenses with this aspect since he does need more material, and the new objects are smaller. This may be deliberate: since the paradox relies on the axiom of choice, this may indicate that the Futurama universe does not choose to allow this axiom.
*Bender says, "Hi, I'm Bender, this is my robot Bender and this is my other robot Bender." This is a reference to the TV series Newhart, specifically the character of Larry and his brothers Darryl, whom he always introduced, "Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl."
* Farnsworth asks Scruffy what the tiny Bender is doing in his soup. This is a play on an old vaudeville joke where a customer asks a waiter what a fly is doing in his soup, and the waiter usually replies, "The backstroke."
* Farnsworth refers to the bathroom as "the situation room", most likely a reference to the CNN The Situation Room or the White House Situation Room.
*After 50 foot Bender falls and "dies", Fry falls to his knees and screams "no", similar to the vision in the What-If Machine from "Anthology of Interest I". The scene is a reference to King Kong.
*Bender compares the alien giant to Edward James Olmos who had a starring role in the television show Battlestar_Galactica_(2004_TV_series).
*The concept of the duplicate Benders threatening the world is a reference to the hypothetical end-of-the-world scenario called the grey goo theory, involving molecular nanotechnology originally described by mathematician John von Neumann.

Continuity
* A new episode of The Scary Door appears. The Scary Door was first seen in "A Head in the Polls".
* Braino, a respected genius and one of the Professor's idols, appears on the $30 bill. Braino previously appeared mentioned, on a bust and on a Vincian statue in "The Duh-Vinci Code".
* When the Professor shows the mathematical formula, showing how the Benders multiply, the only ones understanding it are Amy and Hermes. Amy has studied advanced mathematics and physics at university, and became a doctor of applied physics in "That Darn Katz!". Hermes is a bureaucrat and is often seen calculating.
*The fembot Ruth, who previously appeared alongside another fembot in "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular", appears in minimal size, tricking a small Bender into purchasing her promiscuous services, only to have him killed by a mousetrap. Seeing as "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular" in entirety was non-canon, this is her first canon appearance.
*Zoidberg correctly identified Hermes' genitalia, having previously thought it was his "tail" in Bender's Big Score and was his umbilical cord in "Rebirth".
** He was drunk at the time though.
* The scene with big Bender fighting the unattractive giant monster, big Bender's near-death experience, and Fry's reaction to it, is highly reminiscent of a similar scene in "Anthology of Interest I". Both scenes are a reference to - among other films - King Kong.

Goofs
* Hermes' buttons disappear when he says the crew has to be respectful of the unattractive giant monster's appearance.
* When Bender watches the unattractive giant monster destroy New New York on TV and he meanwhile is seen just outside the window, a helicopter visible outside is missing on the TV, in spite of the exact same angle.
* The number of Benders is incorrect near the beginning. 2*2(4)*2(8)*2(16)*2(32)*2(64)*2(128)*2(256)*2(512)*2(1024)*2 or 2^11 = 2048, not 2046, as Farnsworth said. Also, when the Professor says there is 11 generations of Benders, he would be wrong if he was including the original, which would make sense considering he shot him when he asked if he was included.
**This is not a goof, the correct calculation is 2^1+2^2+2^3+2^4+2^5+2^6+2^7+2^8+2^9+2^10=2046, which excludes the original Bender (2^0) who was only shot due to the smaller Bender within him.
*** Farnsworth doesn't specify they all multiplied in sync, so it could be any (even) number. Each Bender could have decided to multiply on its own. But if they did, computation is: 2, 4, 8, 16, etc, sum being 2046 for 10 generations (not 11, but if we consider the original to be the first generation, math is correct. Farnsworth says "according to my calculations, there are 11 generations at the moment" hinting that there are 11 total, original plus 10).
* 11th generation benders are shown manipulating water atoms that appear to be about the size of a softball. A bender of this generation would be much larger than a water molecule (three atoms).
** This is not a goof. A sufficiently long amount of time happens between the mentioning of the 11th generation and that of the manipulating of molecules to assume that these are later generations Bender reaching an atomic scale.
* It is pointed out that Bender could consume all matter of the Earth and it is never cited a shrink effect on atoms (if so series shown would be summation of original mass multiplied number of Benders in each generation), so replicas are probably composed of ordinary mass and it could not be replicated at atomic scale as operating robot and replication had to be arrested at some point.
Mr. And Mrs. Fry are Philip J. Fry's parents who lived in a completely trashed house. Mrs. Fry loves sports more than her children, proven when she was giving birth to Fry, she cared more about a baseball game and was too busy playing golf when Yancy Jr. was trying to steal Fry's clover. She was also too excited about a football game to wonder where Fry had disappeared to. Yancy Fry Sr was a Vietnam veteran and spent most of his time building a nuclear bomb shelter for fear of a communist attack. His worries about the Y2K computer bug made him believe it was the cause of Fry’s disappearance. They both didn’t care about Fry and thought sending Fry to school was a waste of tax money and didn’t bother much looking for him when he was frozen.
The Dixie Chicks was a popular music group. By 3008, they have been transformed into a monstrous blob after a horrible matter transporter accident (a reference to "The Fly" perhaps). They sang the national anthem at the Space Demolition Derby. Rich Little's head was recently absorbed into them.
