Braino is a legendary scientist or genius of sorts. What exactly he did or when he lived (if he is even deceased) is unknown, but Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth had a poster of him in his old room in 2855 (7ACV10). Farnsworth considers him a great inspiration alongside Leonardo da Vinci, Euclid and Copernicus. Braino has a bulging Brain and a horse that also has a bulging brain.
A statue of him in a park on Planet Vinci makes it possible that either Vinci was his place of birth, or that he is as respected there as on Earth (which would make sense considering that the Vincians are extremely intelligent). He does not, however, resemble the native people of Planet Vinci in appearance. He also appears on the Earthican $30 bill (6ACV17). He is seen on a poster in the Professor's bedroom in a flashback (7ACV10).

Trivia
- His name is clearly a reference to his brain which looks very developed.
- In "Mars University", a statue is seen of an alien with a giant brain, similar to Braino. However, it seems closer to a member of Morbo's species.
- One of the books read by Bender in Overclockwise is named "The Collected Wisdom of Braino".
