Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist who is considered one of the most famous musicians of all time and who went deaf at an early age. In 3002, Bender credited a sheet music for Beethoven's fifth symphony to himself. [3ACV13] In 3004, Fry played Beethoven's composition "Für Elise" with a holophonor. [4ACV18] In 3012, Bender and Fry saw, at a history kiosk at Oktoberfest, a hologram that showed Beethoven as a symbol of the Neander Valley along with beer and sausage. [7ACV08]

Trivia

  • The hologram associates Beethoven with the Neander Valley because the city where he was born (Bonn) and the Neander Valley are today part of the same state (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Quotes

Helmut Spargle: Without the distraction of taste, your mind is free to touch the Zen of pure flavour. You could become the greatest chef ever. [3ACV22]
    Bender: I could?
Helmut Spargle: Yes. Just as Beethoven was a great composer because he was deaf.

[Bender stamps on ten CDs, cracking and breaking them.] [4ACV14]
Bender: Take that, Beethoven, you deaf bastard!
