John DiMaggio was once a stand-up comedian before getting into voice acting. Outside of Futurama, he can be heard doing voices in Jackie Chan Adventures, Samurai Jack, Kim Possible, and Teen Titans, as well as the Animatrix and Princess Mononoke. Recent work includes playing Rico the Penguin in the Dreamworks film "Madagascar" and the accompanying Penguin Christmas Caper, Shnitzel from the tv show Chowder, and Final Fantasy 12 as the voice for Gilgamesh. He also provided the voice for Grievous and Sha'a Gi for Chapter 20 of Star Wars: Clone Wars.

- John DiMaggio voices Marcus Fenix in the popular Xbox 360 game, Gears of War.
- John DiMaggio is also a voice of a marine and the Brute Chieftains in the Xbox 360 game, Halo 3. A few marine quotes are shared with and reference Bender.
- John DiMaggio also plays Kreese Kreeley in the Wii game MadWorld. Kreese is an announcer, who along with his partner Howard "Buckshot" Holmes, makes amusing and off-color remarks about the player's progress, performance and choices during the game.
